German leader calls for bold action at Paris climate talks.

PARIS — Germany’s Angela Merkel took the stage in Paris on Monday to implore fellow world leaders to “take action” on climate change, leaving little doubt that Berlin would push hard for a sweeping global accord.

“We need an agreement that is ambitious, comprehensive, fair and binding,” said Merkel, her voice hoarse from a cold.

Few in Paris have as much riding on the outcome, either in political or economic terms, as the German leader.

Celebrated as the “climate chancellor” at home for what many regard as her courage in deciding to phase out nuclear energy by 2022, Merkel has been urging fellow world leaders for years to be bolder in tackling climate change.

In climate-conscious Germany, many would like to see the chancellor push even harder. A failure to secure a robust deal in Paris would further dent Merkel’s standing, which has recently taken a hit amid the country’s refugee crisis.

Germany’s economic strength and Merkel’s longstanding commitment to climate issues — she served as environment minister under Helmut Kohl — has given her a powerful voice in the debate.

On Monday, she endorsed French President François Hollande’s call for a more ambitious temperature reduction goal, saying the current target was necessary but “insufficient.” Hollande opened the conference by saying countries should aim to cap a rise in global temperatures at 1.5 degrees above pre-industrial levels instead of the 2 degrees now on the table.

Merkel also reiterated her support for a plan to provide substantial aid, up to $100 billion per year, to help developing countries defray the cost of cutting their emissions. Germany, she said, stood ready to play its part.

“It’s a question of the future of mankind,” Merkel told the U.N. conference.

For Germany, it’s also a question of protecting its own economy.

Berlin has committed to some of the world’s most ambitious carbon reduction goals. By 2020, the country aims to cut emissions by 40 percent over 1990 levels, rising to between 80 percent and 95 percent by mid-century.

The targets are part of the country’s Energiewende, or energy transformation, its shift from fossil fuels and nuclear power to renewable energy.

The trouble is that Germany will have placed itself at a considerable competitive disadvantage if more developed countries don’t commit to a similar path.

The Energiewende could cost more than €1 trillion by some estimates. Its supporters say maintaining the current infrastructure would cost nearly as much without the promise of long-term sustainability.

Even so, business is already feeling the pinch and worries about further burdens.

“Ambitious climate policies should not result in a competitive disadvantage for companies,” Ulrich Grillo, president of the Federation of German Industries, said on Monday in Berlin.

While industry wants Berlin to commit to less ambitious goals, Merkel has come under fire from the environmental lobby for falling short on previous commitments.

The nuclear phase-out has left Germany more reliant on coal, at least in the short term, and emissions from coal burning power plants have risen.

“Angela Merkel goes to Paris weighed down by coal,” said Bärbel Höhn, a Green MP who heads the Bundestag’s environment committee.

To preserve her reputation as the “climate chancellor,” Merkel won’t just have to secure a deal acceptable to Berlin’s partners. The bigger challenge will be to convince Germany’s environmental interests the accord isn’t a sellout.

Huge amounts of methane are present in sediments under the Arctic Ocean in the form of free gas and hydrates. As temperatures in the Arctic keep rising, the jet streams and polar vortex are changing their shape, in particular becoming more wavy, which can cause extreme weather events.

Large quantities of methane appear to be erupting from seafloor of the Arctic Ocean and, as this methane rises in the atmosphere, it moves closer to the Equator, resulting in higher methane levels there as well. Temperatures are rising particularly rapidly on the Northern Hemisphere.

Methane levels were as high as 2436 parts per billion (ppb) on the afternoon of December 5, 2016, with most methane rising up from the water, in particular over the Arctic Ocean

The huge amounts of energy entering the oceans translate into higher temperatures of the water and of the air over the water, as well as higher waves and stronger winds. Much of that heat is carried by the Coriolis force along the Gulf Stream from the EAST coast of North America via the North Atlantic into the Arctic Ocean.

The cold ocean current upwelling conveyer belt is affected. There is further aggravation– Freshwater continually flows into the northern Atlantic through precipitation, rivers and ice-melting. But supply of salty waters from the south, through the Gulf Stream System, balances this. If however the current slows, there is less salt supply, and the surface ocean gets less salty.
This fresher water is lighter than saltier water and therefore cannot sink into the depths so easily. Since this sinking – the so-called deep water formation – drives the Gulf Stream System, the current continues to weaken. There is a critical point when this becomes an unstoppable vicious circle. This is one of the classic tipping points in the climate system.

The Gulf Stream is a saltwater river on the surface of the ocean; its temperature is warmer than the water that surrounds it. The Gulf Stream is essentially a warm ocean current flowing from the Gulf of Mexico– where underwater fracking leaks have surcharges the gulf stream.

Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation ( AMOC) is called the Gulf Stream. The Gulf Stream is part of a much larger system, however. As that warm water flows northeast, it gradually cools, and in cooling, compresses and sinks.

Current PlanetoPhysical alterations of the Earth are becoming irreversible. Strong evidence exists that these transformations are being caused by highly charged material and energetic non-uniformity’s in anisotropic interstellar space which have broken into the interplanetary area of our Solar System. This “donation” of energy is producing hybrid processes and excited energy states in all planets, as well as the Sun. Effects here on Earth are to be found in the acceleration of the magnetic pole shift, in the vertical and horizontal ozone content distribution, and in the increased frequency and magnitude of significant catastrophic climatic events. There is growing probability that we are moving into a rapid temperature instability period similar to the one that took place 10,000 years ago. The adaptive responses of the biosphere, and humanity, to these new conditions may lead to a total global revision of the range of species and life on Earth. It is only through a deep understanding of the fundamental changes taking place in the natural environment surrounding us that politicians, and citizens a like, will be able to achieve balance with the renewing flow of PlanetoPhysical states and processes.

INTRODUCTION

Current, in process, geological, geophysical, and climatical alterations of the Earth are becoming more, and more, irreversible. At the present time researchers are revealing some of the causes which are leading to a general reorganization of the electro-magnetosphere (the electromagnetic skeleton) of our planet, and of its climatic machinery. A greater number of specialists in climatology, geophysics, planetophysics, and heliophysics are tending towards a cosmic causative sequence version for what is happening. Indeed, events of the last decade give strong evidence of unusually significant heliospheric and planetophysic transformations [1,2]. Given the quality, quantity, and scale of these transformations we may say that:

The climatic and biosphere processes here on Earth (through a tightly connected feedback system) are directly impacted by, and linked back to, the general overall transformational processes taking place in our Solar System. We must begin to organize our attention and thinking to understand that climatic changes on Earth are only one part, or link, in a whole chain of events taking place in our Heliosphere.

These deep physical processes, these new qualities of our physical and geological environment, will impose special adaptive challenges and requirements for all life forms on Earth. Considering the problems of adaptation our biosphere will have with these new physical conditions on Earth, we need to distinguish the general tendency and nature of the changes. As we will show below,these tendencies may be traced in the direction of planet energy capacity growth (capacitance), which is leading to a highly excited or charged state of some of Earth’s systems.The most intense transformations are taking place in the planetary gas-plasma envelopes to which the productive possibilities of our biosphere are timed. Currently this new scenario of excess energy run-off is being formed, and observed:
In the ionosphere by plasma generation.
In the magnetosphere by magnetic storms.
In the atmosphere by cyclones.
This high-energy atmospheric phenomena, which was rare in the past, is now becoming more frequent, intense, and changed in its nature. The material composition of the gas-plasma envelope is also being transformed.

It is quite natural for the whole biota of the Earth to be subjected to these changing conditions of the electromagnetic field, and to the significant deep alterations of Earth’s climatic machinery. These fundamental processes of change create a demand within all of Earth’s life organisms for new forms of adaptation. The natural development of these new forms may lead to a total global revision of the range of species, and life, on Earth . New deeper qualities of life itself may come forth, bringing the new physical state of the Earth to an equilibrium with the new organismic possibilities of development, reproduction, and perfection. In this sense it is evident that we are faced with a problem of the adaptation of humanity to this new state of the Earth; new conditions on Earth whose biospheric qualities are varying, and non-uniformly distributed. Therefore the current period of transformation is transient, and the transition of life’s representatives to the future may take place only after a deep evaluation of what it will take to comply with these new Earthly biospheric conditions. Each living representative on Earth will be getting a thorough “examination,” or “quality control inspection,” to determine it’s ability to comply with these new conditions.These evolutionary challenges always require effort, or endurance, be it individual organisms, species, or communities. Therefore, it is not only the climate that is becoming new, but we as human beings are experiencing a global change in the vital processes of living organisms, or life itself; which is yet another link in the total process. We cannot treat such things separately, or individually.
